Life Drawing with Dony MacManus
Students will be provided with a drawing pad and some vine charcoal and a chamois cloth, and a life drawing model (nude poses). Dony MacManus, CUA, will give direction on how to capture gesture and proportion as we move through short and long poses. No prerequisites required - open to the absolute beginner to master artist - all are welcome! Light refreshments provided during the class. After class, students may head out to the pub across the green (The Old Brogue) and continue the class with conversation over drinks and a bite to eat! Still Life Painting Class
Call it Valentine's, Galentine's, Palentine's or for this year, Ash Wednesday, but on this evening we will host a painting class featuring a flower arrangement still life setting. All materials included (acrylic paint and 11" x 14" canvas). $100/seat. Click here to sign up.

Young Artists Spring Contest - Application Window
This is our first year to run our free, open submission exhibition for students aged 1-8 years old (as of Feb 1 2024) living/studying in the USA. Artworks are judged by a panel of artists and arts professionals, with selected artworks displayed online and on-site at the Wolfgang and Luke Gallery.
Registration and submission is open until February 29 2024. There is no fee.
The deadline to submit artwork is February 29 2024 at 5pm. You can edit submissions until this deadline.
For school-aged children, your child’s school must first be registered by a teacher before you can submit. Please have the teacher send an email to syl@wolfgangandluke.com referencing the Student’s Name, Teacher Name, School Name, Location, Phone Number.
You can submit one artwork per student.
For each submission you’ll need one image of the artwork plus details including Artist Name, Age, School, Title of the Work, Medium and a Short Description, plus an image of your child creating the artwork that you will allow for Wolfgang and Luke to display alongside the artwork. It does not have to show the child’s face.
The theme of the show is “Things I love” or “What I love”

Commission structure: The artwork will not be listed for sale, but professional photographs will be taken of the selected works, and featured on Contest Exhibition Posters that will be available for sale through the Gallery. In accepting the prize money, artists and artists’ parents/teachers release all claims to the photographs taken and resulting exhibition posters sold by Wolfgang and Luke. In applying to the contest, artists and artists’ parents/teachers consent to having the submitted artwork displayed on Wolfgang and Luke’s social media.

The Studio Tour runs daily 10am-5pm although I’ll likely be staying past 5pm should you wish to stop by. I invite up to 5 visitors at a time to “come paint with me” during the following windows:

The Virginia Fall Races in Middleburg
Wolfgang and Luke will be setting up a vendor tent at this year’s Fall Races in Middleburg where we will be promoting Lady of the Army, The Life of Mrs. George Patton by Stefanie Van Steelandt and Equestrian Jewelry from Sandy Buffie.
Beatrice Ayer Patton’s family has a rich history in horsemanship and in fact, the 9am event entitled “Theodora A. Randolph North American Field Hunter Championship” is for Theadora Ayer Randolph, a relative of Beatrice’s. See event website to learn more: www.vafallraces.com
Canadian Thanksgiving Gathering
Did you know Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October? It gets colder up in Canada first than it does down here so the harvest comes earlier then. Same food, same idea, just earlier. And with butter tarts, which is pretty much like pecan pie, but Canadianer, and no marshmallows on sweet potatoes, although many of us will agree on Ocean Spray Cranberry Jelly from the can haha. We will be grilling up some breakfast sandwiches (peameal bacon, veggie burger, all beef burger) and have some butter tarts available on the menu also. And coffee will be on the house!
