Description: Join internationally renowned sculptor, painter, and Catholic University of America art professor Dony MacManus for an intimate, hands-on evening of art at his new studio in Falls Church.
Designed for all experience levels—from absolute beginners to accomplished artists—this two-hour studio class will explore drawing and/or clay sculpture, with Dony providing personal instruction in gesture, proportion, form, and observation.
For a life-drawing format, students will work from a live model through a combination of short and longer poses using vine charcoal, a drawing pad, and chamois cloth. For a sculpture format, students will work in clay while learning how to build and understand the human form in three dimensions.
No prerequisites are required. The emphasis is on learning directly from Dony, developing your eye, experimenting with technique, and enjoying the experience of making art in a working artist’s studio.

All materials are provided, along with light refreshments.
After class, anyone who would like to keep the evening going is invited to join us at a nearby pub for drinks, food, conversation, and a little Art Gang bonding. Participation is completely optional, but we hope it becomes part of the fun of bringing artists together beyond the studio.
Tuition: $150 per student
Minimum enrollment: 6 students
Life-drawing sessions featuring a nude model are for adults 18+.
