Wolfgang and Luke celebrates Young Artists

Celebrating Young Artists

Wolfgang & Luke believes that children’s artwork deserves to be explored, encouraged and celebrated. At our former Great Falls Village gallery, we offered art classes and maintained a welcoming space where young children could draw, paint, experiment and develop confidence in their own creative expression.

Alongside our classes and open art space, we organized exhibitions, contests and poster projects devoted to young artists. We look forward to reviving and expanding these programs in 2027 through new exhibitions, creative opportunities and celebrations of children’s art.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

Little Artists, Big Imaginations

2026 Children’s Art Contest & Gallery Exhibition

Wolfgang & Luke invites children ages 4–12 to imagine a garden where anything can grow. Flowers that sing? Trees filled with books? A tiny house for a dragon? We want to see the extraordinary world your young artist creates!

Children may use crayons, coloured pencils, markers, paint, or any combination they choose. They can draw directly on our contest sheet or create their artwork on a separate piece of paper.

Entry is free, with one entry permitted per child. An art-supply prize will be awarded in each age group: ages 4–6, 7–9, and 10–12. Selected artworks will also be featured in a special exhibition at Wolfgang & Luke Art Gallery in Sterling, where families will be invited to celebrate our young artists.

Entry deadline: October 4, 2026

To enter, a parent or guardian should email a clear photograph of the completed artwork to syl@wolfgangandluke.com. Please include the artwork’s title, the child’s first name and age, and the adult’s name and contact information.

Parent or guardian permission will be requested before any child’s artwork is displayed or shared. Entering the contest does not subscribe families to marketing emails.

Children’s Art Classes

At our Great Falls Village location, children under the age of eight explored collage, drawing, figure studies, painting and other forms of art-making.

We are delighted that the Arts of Great Falls now offers classes for children ages five through eight. Wolfgang & Luke remains especially interested in creating opportunities for children under five. Very young children bring a remarkable freedom and spontaneity to their artwork, and we look forward to welcoming that joyful experimentation back into our programming.

Children’s Art Exhibition

In October 2023, Wolfgang & Luke presented an exhibition of artwork by toddlers and young children. The exhibition followed their development from early abstract marks and movements to recognizable people, animals and—memorably—bunnies.

The exhibition was presented during the Great Falls Studios Tour. Learn more about the 2023 exhibition.

2024 Children’s Art Contest

In 2024, we invited children up to eight years old to submit original artwork for consideration in a special exhibition. Four young artists participated, and all four received a cash award in recognition of their creativity and contribution.

With the artists’ permission, Wolfgang & Luke also created a collection of posters featuring their work. See the results.

In 2026, we are building upon that experience with Little Artists, Big Imaginations, a new contest for children ages 4–12.

Young Artists Poster Collection

In 2025, we expanded the poster collection with artwork by two local elementary-school artists.

Every poster purchase directly supports its young creator. The $10 profit is divided equally, with $5 going to the artist and $5 supporting Wolfgang & Luke’s young-artist programming.

Purchase posters by our young artists.

Looking Ahead to 2027

We look forward to finding new ways to honor children’s creativity—including exhibitions, contests, poster projects and art experiences designed especially for our youngest artists.

Our aim is not to tell children what their art should look like. It is to give them the space, encouragement and recognition to discover what they want to express.
