St. Francis Episcopal Plein Air Gathering
Weston Mathews, the new Pastor of St. Francis Episcopal, is a patron of the arts and is dedicated to providing community to Great Falls residents and visitors from abroad. He has graciously offered the grounds of St. Francis for artists to convene for plein air gatherings and this is the inaugural event. All levels of artists are welcome, and there will be informal instruction available for newbies who are looking for some initial direction, and I find that seasoned artists are always happy to offer peer to peer instruction. Babies, toddlers, kids, tweens, teens, adults…all ages are welcome to take in nature and dabble around with art supplies to see what they make of it all.
Please pack a lunch and plan to picnic on the grounds from 12-1 after working up a good appetite from your creative endeavours. Socialize and enjoy the ambience.
I will have supplies on hand…10 easels are available to borrow at no charge in addition to some basic paper and charcoal. I’ll have some watercolour and acrylic supplies on hand available for purchase.

Named after my daughter (who has the initials VT), these sessions are for kids up to age 8 to come and play and create and learn basic cultural, spelling and math skills through art and play, as inspired by my daughter. $25 per session per child to cover supplies. During her Studio Tour visit, landscape artist Heather Smiley will run a plein air workshop here in the Village Green. Please sign up to reserve your spot! Artists bring their own supplies however canvasses, acrylics, and brushes are available for purchase from the gallery. Easels will be available for use. If 10am-12pm does not suit, Artists are invited to set up anytime during the Sunday to paint and there will be plenty of artists on hand in addition to Heather to provide guidance/feedback. We will have a 12” x 12” canopy ready to set up in case of inclement weather, allowing artists to continue working despite the elements. $100/person. 6 Spots available per session. Sign up HERE.

Anatomical Drawing Lesson
This session with Dony MacManus will explore the layers of muscular and skeletal structure of the human form. Bring your best life drawing sketch and we will provide the rest of the materials in this 2.5 hour class that will be followed by an artist outing to the Brogue. $150/seat. Sign up here
Life Drawing with Dony MacManus
Students will be provided with a drawing pad and some vine charcoal and a chamois cloth, and a life drawing model (nude poses). Dony MacManus, CUA, will give direction on how to capture gesture and proportion as we move through short and long poses. No prerequisites required - open to the absolute beginner to master artist - all are welcome! Light refreshments provided during the class. After class, students may head out to the pub across the green (The Old Brogue) and continue the class with conversation over drinks and a bite to eat!
